It has been some four decades since my first camera. Along the way I’ve owned or used countless cameras and formats from 35mm to view cameras and now digital cameras. My photographic study and training was broad covering photojournalism, studio photography, lighting techniques, black and white film and print processes, color film and print processes and other photo sciences. This, along with my layout and compositing skills from my art training made the transition to digital photography and the digital process effortless.

A camera has to have a certain “feel” for me. It has to be a natural extension. After all this time it has become instinctive. Although I enjoy the controlled complexity of studio photography I find the photojournalistic style of shooting more interesting and challenging. Let the environment of the subject be the studio and find the image there.

I believe in the elegance of simplicity elegance and the images and websites I create reflect that. With images I try to balance the spontaneity of photojournalism with the calculated precision of studio photography. With websites the subject, or content, is the focal point of the design. The design must enhance the content, never distract.

This project started simply enough. I wanted to showcase my work, my way. The actual studio concept began many years ago. The internet has created a virtual studio. I can collaborate with other designers and artists on a project.

In the last three years this concept has expanded to include hosting services, content creation, marketing materials, photo editing and more. There has been a demand to have all these services centralized at one source.

And so, the studio is now open.
